John Heard, who played Kevin McCallister’s dad in “Home Alone,” died on Friday.
He was 72.
Heard, who was well-known for his role as Peter McCallister in the popular ’90s “Home Alone” flicks, was found dead on Friday,the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office confirmed to the Daily News.
Police were called to the hotel on a report of a medical emergency after the actor’s body was reportedly discovered by a maid, according to TMZ.
A rep for the actor told TMZ that the star had minor back surgery on Wednesday and was recovering in a hotel.
In addition to his iconic role in “Home Alone,” Heard also starred in “Big,” “White Chicks,” “Beaches” and “The Pelican Brief,” among others.
He also appeared on TV in “The Sopranos,” “Sharknado,” “The Scarlet Letter” and “Miami Vice.” His guest role in “The Sopranos” as Vin Makazian earned him an Emmy nomination in 1999.
The Washington, D.C., native revealed in 2008 that he thought he could have done more with his career.
“I sort of got sidetracked. But that’s OK, that’s all right, that’s the way it is …” he said in the 411Mania interview. “I don’t have any regrets. Except that I could have played some bigger parts.”
In 2016, Heard told the Baltimore Media Blog that his favorite role was in “Sharknado.”
“I thought it would replace people calling me the ‘Home Alone Dad,’” he said.
Heard first began acting in 1975 and his role was in a TV movie called “Valley Forge.” He went on to land roles in countless other films and TV shows. Most recently, he just wrapped on projects “Imprisoned,” “The Tale,” “Last Rampage” and “Living Among Us.”
The actor was reportedly still filming a starring role in the movie “Broome Street Boys,” according to his IMDb page.
Heard is survived by three children, Max, Annika and John. He shares Max and Annika with ex-wife Sharon, who was married to from 1988 to 1996. He shares John, 30, with ex-girlfriend Melissa Leo. In 2010, he married Lana Pritchard and the couple divorced after just seven months of marriage.
His cause of death is unclear at this time and the coroner is reportedly investigating, according to the gossip site.
A rep for Heard did not immediately respond to a Daily News request for comment and the Palo Alto Police forwarded The News to the Santa Clara Medical Examiner/Coroner, which did not immediately respond to calls.
