At least four people were killed early Friday in a shootout with police during an investigation related to the terror attack that killed 13 people and injured at least 100 in Barcelona on Thursday.
Authorities said the suspects were planning an attack in Cambrils near Barcelona hours after the terror attack claimed by the Islamic State, RTVE reported.
The suspects may have been wearing suicide belts, according to the station. Other local reports said police officers were injured.
Policesaidon Twitter that the situation is under control.
Earlier, a white van jumped onto a curb and struck pedestrians at La Rambla, a popular destination spot in Barcelona — an act police called a terror attack.
Two people in connection to the mayhem have been arrested. The driver is believed to be on the run, authorities say.
